Psalms 16

1David fleeth to God for preservation, disclaiming all merit, and professing hatred of idolatry: 5he rejoiceth in having God for his portion: 8he confideth in God's present protection, and in a future resurrection, and life everlasting.

0 1Michtam of David.

1 PRESERVE ame, O God: for in thee do I put my trust.

2 O my soul, thou bhast said unto the LORD, Thou art my Lord: cmy goodness extendeth not to thee;

3 dBut to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.

4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied that 2hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor etake up their names into my lips.

5 fThe LORD is the portion 3of mine inheritance and of my cup: gthou maintainest my lot.

6 The hlines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, iI have a goodly heritage.

7 I will jbless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my k*reins also instruct me in the night seasons.

8 lI have set the LORD always before me: because he is mat my right hand, I shall not be moved.

9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my nglory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall 4rest in hope.

10 For othou wilt not leave my soul in phell; neither wilt thou suffer qthine Holy One to see corruption.

11 Thou rwilt shew me the path of life: sin thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are tpleasures for evermore.
