John 1
The apostle professeth to declare what he had formerly seen and known of the Word of life, to the end that others might have fellowship with him. The substance of his doctrine is, that to have fellowship with God, we must be holy as he is holy; and that if we confess our sins, we shall be forgiven through the blood of Christ.
THAT awhich was from the beginning, bwhich we have heard, which cwe have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of dthe Word of life;
(For ethe life was fmanifested, and we have seen it, and gbear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was hwith the Father, and was manifested unto us;)

That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have ifellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
And these things write we unto you, jthat your joy may be full.
kThis then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that lGod is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
mIf we say that we have fellowship with him, and nwalk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
But if we owalk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and pthe blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
qIf we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
rIf we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
