Thessalonians 1

The salutation. 2Paul sheweth his thankful remembrance of the Thessalonians in his prayers on account of their faith, charity, and patience; 5applauding them for their exemplary reception of the gospel, and improvement under it.

aPAUL, and bSilvanus, and cTimotheus, unto the church of the dThessalonians which is in eGod the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ: fGrace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

gWe give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers;

Remembering without ceasing hyour work of faith, and labour of love, and ipatience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, jin the sight of God and our Father;

kKnowing, 1brethren beloved, your election of God.

For lour gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy *Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know mwhat *manner of men we were among you for your sake.

And ye nbecame followers of us, and of the Lord, ohaving received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy *Ghost:

So that ye were p*ensamples to all that believe in qMacedonia and Achaia.

For from you rsounded out the word of the Lord snot only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing.

For they themselves shew of us twhat *manner of entering in we had unto you, and how uye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;

And vto wait for his Son from heaven, wwhom he raised from the dead, even xJesus, ywhich delivered us from the wrath to come.
