Job 27

Job protesteth his sincerity, and resolution to assert his innocence to the last, 8seeing that the hypocrite is without hope: 11he admitteth that even the blessings which the wicked possess are sometimes turned into curses.

MOREOVER Job a1continued his parable, and said,

As bGod liveth, who chath taken away my judgment; and the Almighty, who hath 2*vexed my soul;

All the while my breath is in me, and 3the spirit of God is in my nostrils;

  • 3: That is, the breath which God gave him, Ge. 2.7. Is. 2.22. , Ge. 2:7 , Is. 2:22

My dlips shall not speak wickedness, nor my tongue utter deceit.

God forbid that I should ejustify you: till I die I fwill not remove mine integrity from me.

My grighteousness I hold fast, and will not let it go: my hheart shall not reproach me 4so long as I live.

Let imine enemy be as the wicked, and he that riseth up against me as the unrighteous.

For jwhat is the hope of the hypocrite, though he hath gained, when God taketh away his soul?

Will kGod hear his cry when trouble cometh upon him?

Will lhe delight himself in the Almighty? will he always call upon God?

I mwill teach you 5by the hand of God: that which is with the Almighty will I not conceal.

Behold, all ye yourselves nhave seen it; why then are ye thus oaltogether vain?

pThis is the portion of a wicked man with God, and the heritage of oppressors, which they shall receive of the Almighty.

qIf his children be multiplied, it is for rthe sword: and his offspring shall not be satisfied with bread.

sThose that remain of him shall be buried in death: and his twidows shall not weep.

Though he uheap up silver as the dust, and prepare *raiment as the clay;

He may prepare it, but vthe just shall put it on, and the innocent shall divide the silver.

He buildeth his house was a moth, and xas a booth that the keeper maketh.

The rich man shall ylie down, but he shall not be zgathered: he aopeneth his eyes, and he is not.

bTerrors take hold on him as cwaters, da tempest stealeth him away in the night.

eThe east wind carrieth him away, and he departeth: and as a fstorm hurleth him out of his place.

For God shall gcast upon him, and not spare: 6he would h*fain flee out of his hand.

Men shall iclap their hands at him, and shall hiss him out of his place.
