Psalms 10

David complaineth to God of the outrages of the wicked: 12he prayeth for reparation: 16he professeth his confidence.

WHY astandest thou afar off, O LORD? why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?

1The bwicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: clet them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.

For the wicked dboasteth of his 2heart's desire, eand 3blesseth the covetous, whom the LORD abhorreth.

The wicked, fthrough the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: 4God is not in all his thoughts.

gHis ways are always grievous; thy judgments are hfar above out of his sight: as for all his enemies, he ipuffeth at them.

He hath said in his heart, jI shall not be moved: for I shall 5never be in adversity.

His kmouth is full of cursing and 6deceit and fraud: under his tongue is 7mischief and vanity.

He lsitteth in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places doth he murder the innocent: his eyes 8are *privily set against the poor.

He lieth in wait 9secretly as a lion in his den: he lieth in wait to catch the poor: he doth catch the poor, when he draweth him into his net.

  • 9: Heb. in the secret places.

10He croucheth, and humbleth himself, that the poor may fall 11by his strong ones.

  • 10: Heb. he breaketh himself.
  • 11: Or, into his strong parts.

He mhath said in his heart, nGod hath forgotten: he hideth his face; he will never see it.

Arise, O LORD; O God, olift up thine hand: forget not the 12humble.

Wherefore pdoth the wicked *contemn God? he hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not qrequire it.

Thou rhast seen it; for thou beholdest mischief and spite, to requite it with thy hand: the poor 13committeth himself unto thee; thou art the shelper of the fatherless.

tBreak thou the arm of the wicked and the evil man: useek out his wickedness till thou find none.

vThe LORD is King for ever and ever: the heathen ware perished out of his land.

LORD, xthou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt 14prepare their heart, ythou wilt cause thine ear to hear:

To zjudge the fatherless and the oppressed, that the aman of the earth may no more 15oppress.
