David prayeth against his enemy, by whose slanderous behaviour he had been driven to reside among strangers.


0 aA Song of degrees.

1 IN bmy distress I cried unto the LORD, and he heard me.

2 cDeliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.

3 1What shall be given unto thee? or what shall be 2done unto thee, thou false tongue?

  • 1: Or, What shall the deceitful tongue give unto thee? or, what shall it profit thee?
  • 2: Heb. added.

4 3Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper.

5 dWoe is me, that I *sojourn in eMesech, that I dwell in the tents of fKedar!

6 My soul hath long dwelt with him gthat hateth peace.

7 I am 4for peace: hbut when I speak, they are for war.
