Psalms 142

David sheweth that in his trouble all his comfort was in prayer unto God.

1Maschil of David; A Prayer when he was ain the cave.

I CRIED bunto the LORD with my voice; with my voice unto the LORD did I make my supplication.

I cpoured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble.

dWhen my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then thou knewest my path. In the way wherein I walked ehave they *privily laid a snare for me.

2I looked on my right hand, and beheld, fbut there was no man that would know me: refuge 3failed me; 4no man cared for my soul.

I gcried unto thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my refuge and hmy portion in the land of the living.

Attend unto my cry; for iI am brought very low: jdeliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I.

kBring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: lthe righteous shall *compass me about; for thou shalt mdeal bountifully with me.
