Psalms 68

1A prayer at the removing of the ark. 4An exhortation to praise God for his mercies, 7for his former care of the church, 19and daily providence over it. 20The church hath confidence in his future protection. 24The magnificent pomp of bringing up the ark. 28A prayer for the confirmation of God's goodness to his church. 32An exhortation to all kingdoms to praise the God of Israel.

    1 LET aGod arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee 1before him.

    2 As bsmoke is driven away, so drive them away: cas wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God.

    3 But dlet the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yea, let them 2exceedingly rejoice.

    4 eSing unto God, sing praises to his name: fextol him that grideth upon the heavens by his name hJAH, and rejoice before him.

    5 A ifather of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in jhis holy habitation.

    6 God ksetteth the lsolitary 3in families: he mbringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the nrebellious dwell in a dry land.

    7 O God, when thou owentest forth before thy people, pwhen thou didst march through the wilderness; Selah:

    8 The qearth shook, the heavens also dropped at the presence of God: even Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God, the God of Israel.

    9 Thou, O God, rdidst 4send a plentiful rain, whereby thou didst 5confirm thine inheritance, when it was weary.

    10 Thy scongregation hath dwelt therein: thou, O God, thast prepared of thy goodness for the poor.

    11 The Lord gave the word: ugreat was the 6company of those that published it.

    12 Kings of armies 7did flee apace: and vshe that tarried at home divided the spoil.

    13 Though ye whave *lien among the pots, yet shall ye be as xthe wings of a dove covered with silver, and her feathers with yellow gold.

    14 When ythe Almighty scattered kings 8in it, zit was white as snow in aSalmon.

    15 The bhill of God is as the chill of Bashan; an high hill as the hill of Bashan.

    16 Why leap ye, ye high hills? this is dthe hill which God desireth to dwell in; yea, the LORD will dwell in it for ever.

    17 The echariots of God are twenty thousand, 9even thousands of angels: the Lord is among them, as in Sinai, fin the holy place.

    18 Thou ghast ascended on high, hthou hast led captivity captive: thou ihast received gifts 10for men; yea, for jthe rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them.

    19 kBlessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even lthe God of our salvation. Selah.

    20 He that is our God is the God of salvation; and unto GOD the Lord belong mthe issues from death.

    21 But nGod shall wound the head of his enemies, and the hairy scalp of such an one as goeth on still in his trespasses.

    22 The oLord said, I will bring again from Bashan, I will bring my people again pfrom the depths of the sea:

    23 That qthy foot may be 11dipped in the blood of thine enemies, and the tongue of thy dogs in the same.

    24 They have seen rthy goings, O God; even the goings of my God, my King, in the sanctuary.

    25 The ssingers went before, the players on instruments followed after; among them were the *damsels tplaying with *timbrels.

    26 uBless ye God in the congregations, even the Lord, 12from vthe fountain of Israel.

    27 There is wlittle Benjamin with their ruler, the princes of Judah 13and their council, the princes of Zebulun, and the princes of Naphtali.

    28 Thy God xhath commanded thy strength: ystrengthen, O God, that which thou hast wrought for us.

    29 zBecause of thy temple at Jerusalem ashall kings bbring presents unto thee.

    30 cRebuke 14the company of spearmen, the multitude of the bulls, with the calves of the people, till every one submit himself with pieces of silver: 15scatter thou the people that delight in war.

    31 dPrinces shall come out of Egypt; Ethiopia shall soon estretch out her hands unto God.

    32 fSing unto God, ye kingdoms of the earth; O sing praises unto the Lord; Selah:

    33 To him gthat rideth upon the heavens of heavens, which were of old; lo, he doth 16send out hhis voice, and that a mighty voice.

    34 iAscribe ye strength unto God: jhis excellency is over Israel, and his strength is in the 17clouds.

    35 O God, thou art kterrible out of thy holy places: the God of Israel is he lthat giveth strength and power unto his people. Blessed be God.
