1The church's love unto Christ: 5she confesseth her deformity, 7and prayeth to be directed to His flock. 8Christ directeth her to the shepherds' tents: 9and shewing His love to her, 11giveth her gracious promises. 12The church and Christ congratulate one another.

5 kI am black, but comely, lO ye daughters of Jerusalem, as mthe tents of nKedar, as the curtains of Solomon.
6 Look not upon me, because oI am black, because the sun hath looked upon me: pmy mother's children were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards; but mine own vineyard have I not kept.

8 ¶If thou know not, tO thou fairest among women, ugo thy way forth by the footsteps of the flock, and feed thy kids beside the shepherds' tents.
